El Teide national park is located in the centre of Tenerife with an altitude of more than 2,000m. It is the best example of volcanic ecosystem in the Canary Islands. It comprises threatened habitats of all kinds affected influenced by their particular location and the different periods of snows. Despite the existence of many unique species of plants and animals, some of them threatened, the most popular place is the spectacular Mount Teide, attracting millions of tourists every year. Although it has several titles, in 2007 El Teide National Park became World Heritage of the UNESCO.
