The "Second Easter" or "Pasqua Granada" is a religious festivity on Whit Sunday, commemorating the apparition of the Holy Spirit to the apostles of Jesus Christ. The name of "granada" has to do with the harvest of crops. On this holiday the streets and plazas are decorated with canopies of branches, garlands and flower carpets.

Monday of Pasqua Granada was the day of “aplecs” too; reffering to pilgrimages to chapels or shrines in the countryside or mountains, where people would spend the day. Currently, these events have lost a great deal of their religiosity, but they are still part of the festivities in the metropolitan area of Barcelona.

Traditionally, the decorative canopies of branches are a sign of love from the women's suitors, who used to place a basket at their door at night, filled with fruit and candies,  and sing to them early in the morning as a declaration of love.
